Tiniyak ng Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) sa publiko na sakop nito ang ‘inpatient confinement’ na may kinalaman sa “whooping cough” condition.
Sa isang kalatas, sinabi ni PhilHealth President and CEO Emmanuel Ledesma Jr., na para sa mga kaso na nangangailangan ng confinement o madala sa ospital, nag-aalok ang PhilHealth ng case rate benefits na P13,000 hanggang P19,000 para sa pertussis treatment.
“We understand the concerns surrounding pertussis treatment and want to reassure the public that PhilHealth is fully committed to supporting individuals needing inpatient care for this illness,” ayon kay Ledesma.
Siniguro naman ni Ledesma sa publiko ang commitment ng PhilHealth na suportahan ang mga indibiduwal na nangangailangan ng inpatient care, na may benepisyo para sa malubhang pneumonia, karaniwang komplikasyon ng pertussis, umabot na sa P90,100.
Hinikayat din nito ang lahat ng mga Filipino na humingi ng medical consultation kung kinakikitaan na ang mga ito ng sintomas ng pertussis, gaya ng sinat, ubo at sipon.
“If our Kababayans need medical consultation, I encourage them to avail themselves of the free consultation and the medicines they need to treat the disease as recommended by the healthcare provider under PhilHealth Konsulta. All they have to do is register,” ang pahayag ni Ledesma.
Binigyang diin din nito na tinitiyak ng PhilHealth sa mga pasyente na makatatanggap ang mga ito ng kinakailangang pangangalaga habang sinasagot ng organisasyon ang medical expenses na may kinalaman sa pertussis treatment.
Dahil dito, binigyang diin ni Ledesma ang ‘accessibility’ ng Konsultasyong Sulit at Tama (Konsulta) Package ng PhilHealth, nagbibigay ng libreng konsultasyon at mahalagang medisina para sa paggagamot ng sakit.
“PhilHealth Konsulta offers comprehensive outpatient primary care benefits, including free consultation, health risk screening, diagnostic tests, and prescribed medications,” aniya pa rin.
Binigyang diin naman ni Ledesma ang kahalagahan ng ‘preventive care’ sa paglaban sa pertussis. Pagpapahayag ng suporta ito para sa naging panawagan ng Department of Health (DOH) para sa agarang pagbabakuna.
“Vaccination and early detection are our strongest defenses against pertussis. I advise all our Kababayans to check the vaccination status of their children and have regular consultations to prevent the spread of the disease,” ayon pa rin kay Ledesma.
Sa kabilang dako, ang Pertussis, kilala rin bilang “whooping cough,” ay isang respiratory infection sanhi ng Bordetella pertussis bacterium.
“It presents symptoms such as mild fever, colds, and a distinctive “staccato” cough.The disease spreads through respiratory droplets and primarily affects infants and young children without the DTaP vaccine,” ayon sa DoH.
