Hindi umano awtorisado ng Kamara de Representantes na pinamumunuan ni Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez ang paggamit ng protocol “8” license plate ng mga sasakyan ng mga miyembro nito.
Ginawa ni House Secretary General Reginald Velasco ang pahayag matapos na mag-viral sa social media ang isang sasakyan na mayroong plakang 8 na iligal na dumaan sa EDSA Busway.
“These plates hold no official sanction from the House and are not to be considered legitimate,” sabi ni Velasco sa isang pahayag.
“The House has an existing agreement with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, wherein drivers found using plates with the number ‘8’ will be apprehended, and such plates will be confiscated promptly,” dagdag pa nito.
Sinabi ni Velasco na hindi dapat kunsintihin ang paggamit ng special protocol plate dahil nagsisilbi itong banta sa kaligtasan ng publiko at nagpapababa sa integridad sa vehicle registration system.
“We urge all individuals to comply with the law and refrain from engaging in such activities,” sabi ni Velasco. “We expect all Members to uphold the highest standards of integrity and adherence to the law.”
“We remain committed to ensuring accountability and transparency within the House of Representatives, and we appreciate the cooperation of all parties involved in upholding the rule of law,” dagdag pa nito.
