Suspendido ang pagpapataw ng interes at multa sa mga hindi nakapagbayad ng amilyar dahil sa pagsasabatas ng Real Property Valuation and Assessment Reform Act (RPVARA).
Ayon kay Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian, nakapaloob sa batas na nilagdaan ni Pangulong Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. ang pagpapairal ng two-year amnesty sa interests at penalties sa mga taxpayer na hindi pa nakakapagbayad ng real property tax.
“We hope that the passage of this law would eventually encourage compliance among taxpayers of real property tax as they get to enjoy non-payment of interest and penalties when they pay their outstanding real property taxes,” saad ni Gatchalian, chair ng Senate Committee on Ways and Means.
Aniya, layunin din ng batas na pabilisan ang automation ng serbisyo ng mga local government units (LGUs). Sa pamamagitan nito, magiging madali ang tax collection ng mga LGU at ang serbisyo sa mga nasasakupan.
Ipinaliwanag pa ng senador na ang paglikha ng Real Property Information system, ang magiging daan sa up-to-date electronic database ng bentahan, exchange, lease, mortgage, donation, transfer, at iba pang real property transactions at mga deklarasyon sa bansa.
“The enactment of RPVARA gives us a remarkable opportunity not only to modernize our processes but also to reaffirm our commitment to progress, efficiency, and fairness in property valuation,” ani Gatchalian.
